KRC Genk wants Ken Nkuba (Sporting Charleroi)

KRC Genk has reached an agreement with Sporting Charleroi on the transfer of right back Ken Nkuba. The 22-year-old Belgian youth international should replace Daniel Munoz at blue and white. Genk hopes to complete Nkuba’s transfer as quickly as possible.

Hugo Siquet was initially the main candidate to fill the void left by Munoz after his departure to Crystal Palace. But the high price tag made it very difficult to prize him away. KRC Genk would have to negotiate not only with the German Freiburg but also with Cercle Brugge, which rents Siquet from the Bundesliga club for a year and does not want to just release him. The other candidate, Daiki Hashioka from STVV, has set his sights on a transfer to Luton Town.

That is why the blue and white went all out for Ken Nkuba, a 22-year-old Belgian youth international who has already played 61 games for Sporting Charleroi in his early career. He scored five goals and seven assists. Nkuba was out of action for several months earlier this season with a serious knee injury, but has returned to playing for the Zebras in recent weeks.

While Nkuba did not train with Charleroi on Monday, both clubs reached an agreement at club level. The player is expected in Limburg on Tuesday for his medical and physical tests. Blue and White has until late Thursday evening to finalize the transfer.
