Players like Randal Kolo Muani were aiming for higher things when they left Eintracht Frankfurt. They moved to Paris, Rome or Turin – and often ended up on the hard ground of reality.

Didier Deschamps, France’s national coach, recently spoke up and wanted to clarify something. “The criticism of him is too harsh,” he said: “Randal knows that I have confidence in him because he has a lot of potential. Paris is an important step for him, with demands that are much higher than at Eintracht.” Shortly before the end of the transfer window last summer, Randal Kolo Muani left Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee of around 95 million euros and moved on to Paris Saint-Germain.

After 22 games, the twenty-five-year-old has only managed eight goals and three assists across all competitions, and he has only been in the starting line-up five times in the last ten competitive games. Since his departure from Germany, the Frenchman seems to be down on his luck – like others who recently turned their backs on Eintracht because they were striving for higher things.
