Is Florent Muslija’s Move to Freiburg Imminent?

Will Florent Muslija move to Freiburg in the winter? The SC has already reached an agreement with the player for the summer, but has improved its winter offer. Muslija was surprisingly missing from the Paderborn squad on Sunday.

“We agree with the player, he will move to us in the summer at the latest,” said SC sports director Klemens Hartenbach in an interview with kicker on Sunday. After the season, the 25-year-old would be free of charge thanks to his contract ending in Paderborn. But it has been clear for a long time: Freiburg is already looking for offensive reinforcements for the second half of the season – and is therefore prepared to spend money on Muslija.

Two weeks ago, SCP coach Lukas Kwasniok described Freiburg’s offer for Muslija as being clearly too low in his opinion with a flippant statement – “We like banknotes, not change.” But now Hartenbach says: “We have now really accommodated Paderborn again. The transfer parameters are in a realistic scenario.”

According to kicker information, the SCP top scorer’s only half-year remaining term is about a transfer fee of around one million euros. It would of course be legitimate if Paderborn insisted on keeping their key player, with the disadvantage of no longer receiving any compensation in the summer. Nevertheless, Hartenbach hopes that those responsible for SCP will give in and a transfer will be made soon.

The Paderborn matchday squad this Sunday in the home game against Fürth can be interpreted as a sign in this direction. Muslija was surprisingly missing there. Official reason: neck problems. The offensive player only returned to training in Paderborn on Wednesday after an irritation in the back of his knee and was considered a candidate for the starting eleven again. He may soon be a league higher up, at SC Freiburg.

Muslija was missed on the penalty kick

Those responsible in Paderborn reduced the personnel completely to sports. It was a joint decision after the final training to leave Muslija out “after all the problems with his knee and neck,” said SCP coach Lukas Kwasniok. “If he’s not 100 percent there, he’s not doing anyone any favors.” Of course, you’re always smarter afterwards, says the coach. Not least with reference to his team’s missed penalty in the 0-1 win against Fürth (Grimaldi failed because of keeper Urbig). Most recently, Muslija had scored nine times in nine attempts from the spot.
