Injury Forces Czech Hockey Player Adam Jiříček Out of Tournament and Season, Puts NHL Draft in Jeopardy

At the end of the second period of the duel against Slovakia, Jiříček’s leg was unfortunately caught by Juraj Pekarčík in a fight at the goalpost, and it soon became clear that this was the last moment of the tournament for the Czech Benjamin. Unfortunately, it turned out that even in the whole season…

“This week, he will undergo a final examination at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University Hospital Pilsen. After the necessary pre-operative rehabilitation preparation, he will undergo an operation on the injured knee by a specialist in this issue, Professor Petr Zeman. The procedure will take him out of the game until the end of this season,” the Pilsen club said in a press release.

Adam Jiříček, whose older brother David, who is three years older, is already playing in the NHL for Columbus, has fully established himself in the Pilsen lineup this season, for which he played nineteen extra-league games. He is expected to be selected in the first round of this year’s NHL draft.
