Achievement by Giuseppe Monchiero from Alba, number 48 in the absolute national rankings. In the prestigious national Superseries in Bolzano he surprisingly won the bronze medal, paired with Alessandro Stan from Nova. The two Piedmontese eliminated Matteo Galati and Luca Caracausi in the round of 32, De Stefani and Matthias Frank in the quarterfinals 21-14/21-17, before surrendering in the semi-final to De Leon and Piccinin 21-9/21-11. Giuseppe’s day of grace was completed by an excellent round of 16 in the final won at the expense of Frank Matthias from South Tyrol 18-21/21-15/21-18.
