The judoka Eunate Etxebarria, from the Judo Club Getxo, the cyclist Jonathan Castroviejo, from the INEOS Grenadiers team, the swimmer Irene Pera, from Getxo Igeriketa, and the field hockey player Bosco Vilallonga, from the Real Club Jolaseta, are competing for the title of best athlete of Getxo in 2023. The “Getxo Sasoi Sasoian” gala will be held on January 9 at the Puerto Deportivo cruise terminal.
The jury made up of technical staff from Getxo Kirolak, journalists and experts in the sports field announced this morning the list of awards, which in the highest individual distinctions recognizes Eunate Etxebarria for her first place in the Spanish Absolute Championship, the Spanish Junior Super Cup and the Junior European Cup, as well as his second place in the Spanish Junior Championship, among other titles. To nominate Jonathan Castroviejo, his sixth victory in the Spanish Time Trial Championship will be taken into account.
Regarding the promising category, the merits of Irene Pera will be valued for her Spanish record in the 50 meter backstroke modality and the bronze medal in the Spanish Junior Championships. For his part, the hockey player Bosco Vilallonga, after completing a good season with the Real Club Jolaseta, participated with the Spanish U21 team in the IV Nations tournament in Dusseldorf, where he won the bronze medal.
In the collective awards, the Raspas Arraun Elkartea women’s 4x team will be recognized, made up of Esther Briz, Virginia Díaz, Izaskun Etxaniz and Maialen Mielgo, who achieved a first first place in the Spanish Championship. In the promising category, the applause will go to the Real Club Jolaseta children’s field hockey team for its double victory in the Euskadi and Spanish championships. The Getxo Rugby under-14 men’s team will also receive local recognition for winning the League and the Bizkaia and Euskadi championships.

The “Marka Hautsiz” award will go to the hockey player Xabier Martín, while the “Kiroltasuna” sports journalist will recognize Jonkar Rey. The Swim Camp Getxo club will receive the “Getxo Berrituz” recognition; the Broker Kirol company the “Getxo Zabala”, while the Etorki Mendi Trail test, organized by Etorkizuna Mendi Taldea, will obtain the “Berdintasuna Indartuz” award. Finally, Carlos Ruiz will be awarded the “Aitzindariak” award for his football career at Athletic Club and RCD Espanyol in Barcelona, among other teams.
