England – Mohamed Salah left Liverpool to join the Egyptian national team which will play in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. Darwin Nunez is believed to be able to replace the role left by the star.

This situation makes Liverpool without Mohamed Salah face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup, Sunday evening WIB 7 January 2024. A tough opponent that definitely needs to be faced with full strength.

Former Liverpool captain Gary McAllister believes Darwin Nunez can cover Mohamed Salah’s absence. And this is the opportunity for the Uruguayan striker to shine.

Liverpool player, Mohamed Salah

“Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly Liverpool’s star player and he is a very unique footballer. His absence will give other players the opportunity to shine,” said Gary McAllister, quoted from Tribal Football.

McAllister saw that Nunez was a player with extraordinary spirit. Even though he was often criticized for missing many golden opportunities, he never stopped fighting.

“The fans love Darwin Nunez because of his extraordinary work rate, even though he missed several chances. He always keeps running and I’m sure he can make it happen,” he said.

Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhaes scored against Liverpool

“Maybe Salah’s absence will motivate him to take advantage of his opportunities and score more goals,” added McAllister.

McAllister also believes that Salah’s absence will make other Liverpool players shine. They can show their best performance without having to be compared to Salah.

“I have been very impressed with Harvey Elliott this season. He is an influential player who can come in and create something when Liverpool are struggling. I am also impressed with Ben Doak and Curtis Jones,” said McAllister.

“Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Waturo Endo all provide Liverpool with depth.”
