Exploring Competitive Badminton and Weekend Sports Matches in the Orkaan Podcast

The Hurricane continues to move. Every week you hear the Warming Up on the Orkaan podcast in which we look ahead to the Zaanse sports weekend and call a guest about a match scheduled for the coming days.

This week it is Dennis Bloetjes, chairman of badminton club Matchpoint. Many people are superficially familiar with the sport from, for example, playing a game of whacking at the campsite. That’s how his love for the sport started. But how does competitive sport work?

‘At least two ladies and two men are required for the competition. The final score is determined in various ‘doubles’ and ‘singles’.

Dennis also talks about what makes the sport so great, the most common injuries and why clubs like to use their own shuttles.

In addition to the interview, Edwin Kleiss discusses the most important matches of the weekend in football and other sports in the overview.

You can hear the interview from 3.39 minutes into the podcast.

The Hurricane podcast can be listened to via Soundcloud, Spotify en alle podcast apps.
