Evenepoel is competing in the Tour de France for the first time

The Belgian Remco Evenepoel will be taking part in the Tour de France for the first time this summer. His Soudal team announced this on Tuesday. The 23-year-old road world champion of 2022 can already point to an extraordinarily long list of successes. However, apart from his Vuelta triumph in 2022, he has had no luck at the major national tours.

Evenepoel achieved two time trial stage victories at the Giro d’Italia last May. In 2023 he celebrated numerous further successes. His outstanding achievements were his World Championship title in the individual time trial and his second triumph in the one-day classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

At the Tour de France in July he will compete with defending champion Jonas Vingegaard, Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic and the Austrian hopeful Felix Gall.
