Eje 5 Sur will be reversible: when does it start and in what section? – The Sun of Mexico

Eje 5 Sur avenue will be reversible starting this January 8, in the section from Eje 4 Oriente – Canal Río Churubusco to Eje 2 Poniente – Gabriel Mancera.

This measure, which will operate every day from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., seeks to speed up vehicular traffic on the viaduct heading east and relieve the accumulation generated by the works on Line 9 of the Metro, reported the head of Local government, Martí Batres.

Luis Ruíz Hernández, undersecretary of transportation at the Ministry of Mobility of Mexico City, reported that reversibility aims to favor the mobility of users who go from the west and center to the east along Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, Ermita Iztapalapa, Santa Martha and the municipalities of the State of Mexico in that area.

The official explained that there will be four reversible lanes and a fifth in which public transportation will circulate, which will operate in its original direction during the application of the reversible lane.

The undersecretary of traffic control of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the CDMX, Francisco Javier Moreno, explained that the reversible will allow vehicular relief not only on that road, but also on the arteries that converge with Axis 5.

“The traffic police will assist with the removal of broken down vehicles that create a risk to road safety or hinder mobility. Likewise, they will remove and apply sanctions to motorists who circulate in the exclusive public transport lane in the direction of normal circulation in the Axis 5 South,” he mentioned.
