Dorothea Wierer to Skip Mass Start in Anterselva Due to Illness: Will Return for World Championships in Nove Mesto

The news came just a few minutes ago that Dorothea Wierer will not be present at the mass start in Anterselva.
After the splendid podium obtained yesterday in the mixed relay with her teammates Lisa Vittozzi, Didier Bionaz and Tommaso Giacomel, the Italian will return to the World Championships in Nove Mesto.

“Thank you Anterselva and the whole Italy team. It was exciting as always” – wrote the Italian on her Instagram profile. “Yesterday’s podium was my 80th… incredible. I won’t compete today, my body needs more rest after the latest flu. See you in Nove Mesto.”

The decision was in the air and is quite logical, since after a month’s stop, the Italian returned to compete in Anterselva, immediately playing two consecutive races. Better to rest and not subject the body to further stress. The next few weeks will be fundamental to allow her to find a very good condition and compete on equal terms for the first time in the season.
