Santo Domingo, National District: The rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, and the general administrator of the Reserve Bank, Samuel Pereyra, announced the remodeling and modernization of the Tony Barreiro sports center of the State academy .
Beltrán Crisóstomo pointed out that Pereyra, together with President Luis Abinader, committed to renew the facilities with an investment of more than 28 million pesos, financed entirely by the Reserve Bank. This project will benefit the 88 thousand students who participate in various sports disciplines, such as basketball, taekwondo, volleyball, badminton, board games, among others, by providing them with modern and fully equipped facilities.
The academic highlighted that this initiative is part of the process of improvement and development of new infrastructures that he has started during his administration. In addition, he highlighted a series of significant changes that encompass the curricular update, in line with the 500 years of the oldest university in the new world.
On the other hand, Samuel Pereyra indicated that the work on the project would begin within a period of 90 days and highlighted that the entity he directs is characterized by having an essential mission of providing financial services for its people. He also stressed the responsibility of supporting this type of infrastructure for the benefit of clients, who are all Dominicans, to the point of highlighting the ties of collaboration between both institutions.
Along with Beltrán, teachers Radhames Jiménez Silverio González, vice-rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies, Rosalía Sosa Pérez, vice-rector for Extension, Pablo Valdez, Secretary General of the UASD, Gerardo Roa Ogando, dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Franklin Susaña, were present. vice dean of the Faculty of Sciences, and Noel de la Rosa, general director of Planning, as well as other important personalities and members of the administrative staff.
Pereyra was accompanied by engineer Rene González, as well as Julia Altagracia Drullard, governor of Santo Domingo Province, and Luis Ricardo Miñoso, communications advisor at the Reserve Bank.
The renovation of the Tony Barreiro sports center includes a series of comprehensive improvements that cover painting, lighting, adaptation of the narration booth, modernization of electrical installations, cleaning and restoration of windows, installation of meshes to prevent the presence of birds, waterproofing, as well as the expansion and repair of stands, chairs, bathrooms and cabins. In addition, the installation of a new scoreboard, gardening work, repair of the aluzinc roof, installation of handrails and railings, and the readjustment of the board will be carried out.
