For the organizing committee of the 43rd Orange Alouette Volleyball Tournament, the appointment of David Beaudin as honorary president is a logical choice. He has a remarkable sporting history, according to president Jeannot Vich.

Involved for more than 20 years at the Sept-Îles Judo Academy as administrator, coach or technical director, David Beaudin also holds the position of general director of the Cégep de Sept-Îles.

“He has been involved in sports development for 20 years. At the professional level, his commitment to the community is also remarkable. It’s an honor that we had to do him,” underlines the president of the Tournament, Jeannot Vich.

It was with some embarrassment that Mr. Beaudin accepted this title, he who is not used to dedicating his time to receive in return. “This kind of honor makes me uncomfortable, but it’s a source of pride that people recognize my involvement,” says the former Canadian judo champion.

The Orange Alouette Tournament has relied on the Sept-Îles Judo Academy for almost ten years. Many of its young people and parents volunteer their time during the event. The tournament provides a scholarship to the Academy in return.

Online registrations began Monday for the sporting event scheduled for May 2 to 5, 2024.
