D1 Arkema: Lyon barely beats Paris FC and takes a huge step towards the playoffs

Even when they are mistreated, the Lyonnaises manage to get by. A brilliant inspiration from Ada Hegerberg, scorer on a tight shot from the right after a pivotal check (84th) was enough for OL to beat Paris FC (1-0) on Wednesday evening. Lyon remains untouchable and continues its formidable first part of the season, with a 12th victory in as many matches played.

Paris FC long believed they were the first team to take points against Lyon, but resigned themselves to a bitter defeat. Very solid but not very enterprising, the Parisiennes were clearly aiming for a draw. Given a few minutes, the strategy could have worked.

It finally ended in a second defeat in a row for Clara Matéo’s teammates, already beaten by PSG before Christmas. They could still have obtained a penalty on a strong tackle on Louna Ribadeira in the open area (62nd).

11 points ahead for OL

With this confirmed full box, the Lyonnaises have practically already secured their place for the playoffs (new this season). They are in fact 11 points ahead of PSG, second in the championship. Jocelyn Prêcheur’s players certainly have two games in hand and could come back to five points. But even in these conditions, it would take a catastrophe to imagine this OL so dominant not playing in the final stages.
