Coach’s NBA fine puts family skiing vacation in jeopardy

Will his freakout cost his family a nice skiing vacation?

Mike Brown (53), coach of the Sacramento Kings, has to pay a $50,000 fine to the NBA. The reason? Several outbursts of anger against the referees during his Kings’ game on the night from Sunday to Monday – he had to be restrained at times by his players.

On Tuesday, the NBA announced the $50,000 fine – which the coach could only laugh at.

Brown: “My partner is mad at me because I wanted to go skiing with them. We wanted to stay at the Ritz-Carlton on the north side of Lake Tahoe and have a little fun during the All-Star break, I wanted to go skiing with my grandson.”

Nothing will come of it, as the Kings coach joked: “But I called her and told her we probably can’t do it today unless the Ritz-Carlton, which is a great place, gives me a discount.”

What happened?

The Sacramento Kings and the Milwaukee Bucks fought a tight battle early Monday morning. Brown, who had been dissatisfied with the referee’s decisions throughout the game, jumped up in the final quarter and stormed towards the referees in a rage. He had seen another supposed wrong decision.

Shooting guard Malik Monk (25) held his own coach back to prevent a greater evil. Nevertheless, Brown was sent off the field – and had to watch as his team lost bitterly 142:143 in stoppage time.

Even after the game ended, the coach’s anger did not subside. He brought his laptop to the press conference and showed the reporters exactly which referees’ decisions he didn’t like.

Brown: “If you have communication and a certain consistency in the game, then you can live with some things. But the consistency I have tonight [gesehen] In my opinion, it wasn’t there.”

Monk also showed maturity after the game, cleverly saying: “I don’t want to get fined. But they (the referees, editor’s note) miss a lot of decisions for us. That’s all I’m going to say.”

He handled the situation better than his coach, who was more than twice his age.
