Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium will now kick off at 3pm on Sunday 25 February following consultation with the Metropolitan Police.
The match was originally scheduled for 16.30 or 23.30 WIB but police recommended the final start ‘no later than 15.00 or 22.00 WIB as the match is considered a ‘high risk’ match.
In a statement sent to football.london last week, the Met Police said: “Preparations for the EFL Cup policing operation are underway following the conclusion of the two semi-finals and we are working with partners including Wembley Stadium, local authorities and the EFL on agreeing kick off times.
Our partners recognize that this match qualifies as a ‘high risk’ match and in accordance with national guidelines from the English Football Policing Unit, this match must start no later than 15.00.”
It has now been confirmed that the match between Mauricio Pochettino’s men and Jurgen Klopp’s side will kick off at 3pm.
An EFL spokesperson said: “Following representation from the Metropolitan Police (MPS), the local safety advisory group has determined the 2024 Carabao Cup Final will now kick off at 3pm.
“Having previously scheduled the usual 4.30pm kick-off time on Wembley and Sky Sports, it is disappointing to see a change at this late stage.”
Fans who want to see the Blues in action at Wembley can do so by purchasing tickets.
Chelsea have been allocated 31,939 tickets and given the west side of the national stadium.
Supporters who are part of England’s away scheme will be able to buy their tickets from Friday 2 February until Monday 5 February. One ticket will be sold to a Chelsea season ticket holder based on loyalty points.
Remaining tickets will be sold to members, subject to loyalty points.
Adult tickets range from £41-£150. The 17-21 years ticket category is priced at £30.75-£112.50, while the 16 and under and 65+ categories will cost between £20.50-£75.
