The Carabins finished the badminton season with their arms in the air, celebrating their provincial mixed team championship on Sunday in Quebec.
Andrée-Ann Allard’s troop successfully defended its Quebec mixed crown with a 3-0 victory over the host team, the Rouge et Or de l’Université Laval, in the grand final. The Carabins won their three doubles duels to win the long-awaited banner.
The day before, they also inflicted a 3-0 loss on the Vert & Or of Sherbrooke University in the semi-final.

In men’s doubles, the duo of Thien Quan Nicolas Nguyen et Xavier Laperrière a won the final facing their teammates Alexis Nadeau et Bao Quoc Anthony Nguyenwho they are silver medalists. For the ladies, Alexandra Mocanu et Alyson Ruan ont won the gold medal in women’s doubles. In mixed doubles, the final also featured two Carabins teams. The duo of Thien Quan Nicolas Nguyen et Alexandra Mocanu finished on the top step of the podium after defeating their teammates Alyson Ruan et Quoc-Quyen Huynh-Bao
Xavier Laperrière came very close to winning the men’s singles title. He came home with the silver medal around his neck.
A shower of honors
The Carabins left Quebec with a banner and several certificates in their suitcases. The Blues have won several individual honors in the provincial badminton circuit this season.
