Cantù beats Rieti. Brianzoli led from start to finish in the away match at the home of the fourth team in the green group of the A2 championship. The victory, with the final score of 74-96, allows coach Devis Cagnardi’s team to also secure the pass to the Final Four of the Italian Cup.
The guests dominate the entire match. The first quarter Acqua S.Bernardo finished ahead 19-28. In the second quarter Cantù starts again with a triple and extends the lead against the home team. At the break, the Brianza team dominate 30-52.
Upon returning after the long break, Rieti tries to react, but Cantù is not surprised and takes the lead back to over 20 points. The guests can manage the match and coach Cagnardi extends the rotations. The third quarter ends 55 to 74. In the last ten minutes the Brianza team reach +28, before Rieti’s final reaction which reduces the gap. However, the final result was clear with the victory with a score of 74-96.
At the end of the match, coach Devis Cagnardi was satisfied. “We are very happy to have won this match and to have won it in this way, imposing our characteristics and our basketball – he says – We have been able to work in the right way for three-four weeks and the boys are working hard. In these first months of the championship we have already faced very difficult moments, because injuries have to be dealt with in a certain way but they can leave consequences, and I am especially happy for the boys. Because I am convinced that my players, beyond their characteristics and technical values, are truly very serious and committed guys. At the start of the championship, as already mentioned, they were able to deal with many problems and they did it with the strength of the group, with their will and motivation.”
