CAN 2024: Senegal coach Aliou Cissé hospitalized after feeling unwell

Shortly after Senegal’s victory against Cameroon, during the 2nd day of the CAN on Friday (3-1), the Lions of Téranga were unable to celebrate their qualification in the round of 16. Following the meeting, coach Aliou Cissé fell ill and was transferred to the emergency room around 10 p.m., reports Canal + Africa. After more than 18 hours, the coach is still hospitalized for additional examinations, adds the media. According to l’Equipe, Cissé’s state of health is not worrying, which means that he should be released quickly.

With six points in two matches, the Senegalese will have to avoid defeat against Guinea this Tuesday to take first place in the group. The Guineans won with a minimal score against Gambia (1-0) then, reduced to ten against Cameroon, still picked up a point (1-1).

In all competitions, Senegal remains undefeated in six matches. The last was against Algeria, September 12, 2023 (1-0).
