CAN 2024: Mali, Ivory Coast, Morocco… At the heart of talent supplying academies in Africa

In the winter of 2022, the World Cup is in full swing in Qatar and Morocco is in full swing. To the rhythm of the exploits of the Atlas Lions, the country vibrates and agitates as its national team reaches the semi-finals of the competition. In a corner of Agadir, another tournament is bringing the city to life. The “capital of Souss” hosts the very young Africa’s Cup, which brings together the U19 categories of the best academies in Africa.

On the sidelines, 55 clubs are represented by 84 recruiters to observe young talents who face and beat the teams of RB Salzburg or OGC Nice. With a special mention to the local Mohamed-VI academy, winner of the event, today represented at the CAN by Abdel Abqar, Nayef Aguerd, Azzedine Ounahi, Youssef En-Nesyri within the Moroccan selection.
