Biathlete Markéta Davidová Finishes 11th in the World Cup in Ruhpolding

Biathlete Markéta Davidová took 11th place in the pursuit race of the World Cup in Ruhpolding, Tereza Voborníková finished in 16th place. Italian Lisa Vittozzi won. In the men’s race, which was won by the Norwegian Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, only the fortieth Vítězslav Hornig scored points from the Czech representatives.

Davidová started from the 46th position, but thanks to flawless shooting and fast running, she erased the loss of 50 seconds to the head of the race. In the eleventh place, she was 65 seconds behind Vittozzi, four tenths of a second away from the top ten.

“I was already smiling when I left the last item from the shooting range. Today I know what I’m capable of. I felt a little better on the track than in other races. I didn’t even hope that it could be four zeros,” said Davidová Czech television.

Voborníková made one mistake on the shooting range and was 15 seconds slower than Davidová in 16th place. The remaining Czech representatives at the start also scored points. Twenty-fifth Lucie Charvátová, who started eighth after the sprint, was also second today, but made four mistakes in the last event. Jessica Jislová finished in 28th position.

Vittozzi cruised to her second win of the season, seven tenths of a second ahead of Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. Both showed flawless shooting. With one hesitation, another Norwegian, Juni Arnekleivová, was third.

Thanks to second place, Tandrevoldová moved to the top of the World Cup standings. She has 666 points and leads France’s Justine Braisaz-Bouchet by nine points. The best Czech competitor is the twentieth Voborníková.

The Czech men did not succeed in the pursuit race. Team leader Michal Krčmář missed five times, dropped from 29th place after the sprint to 51st place, and was also limited by back problems. He lost almost four minutes to the winner. Only Hornig scored, who only had one penalty lap and moved up eighteen places to 40th place. Jonáš Mareček was two places behind him.

Sprint winner Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen was in the lead for a long time, but he missed twice on the last stage and was overtaken by four rivals. Dale-Skjevdal attacked on the final climb and won by 1.7 seconds ahead of Christiansen. Johannes Thingnes Bö, the leader of the World Cup, confirmed Norway’s supremacy with third place.
