Five days before the winter market closes, Anderlecht has still not signed a single player. The Mauves are however looking for a central defender capable of replacing Jan Vertonghen and Zeno Debast.
Many names have been mentioned in recent weeks, without ever reaching an agreement. We can notably cite Filip Helander (Odense) and Boris Popovic (Cercle de Bruges).
According to SkySport, it is now an AC Milan player who is in the Brussels club’s sights. Indeed, the Mauves would be interested in the idea of signing Marco Pellegrino. This 21-year-old Argentine central defender arrived at the Rossonneri for 3.5 million euros from Platense last summer but has hardly played this season due to a series of injuries.
The Argentinian international hopeful is now fit to play but does not appear to feature in Stefano Pioli’s plans.
Purchase or loan?
Anderlecht would therefore like to offer him a way out and discussions have already started with AC Milan. At the moment it is not yet clear whether RSCA wants to buy Pellegrino or have him on loan until the end of the season. However, it would be surprising to see the Milanese part ways with a player just six months after his arrival at the club.
