SANTO DOMINGO.- The 2024 Caribbean Series will be held in Miami, marking the third time in history, after 65 previous editions, that this outstanding winter event comes to the South Florida city.
However, this will be the first time it has been held in a Major League stadium.
The organization is in charge of Major League Baseball (MLB) and the action will begin this Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Loan Depot Park, home of the Marlins, a team that is very popular among Latin fans.
This championship will last eight days, ending on February 9, and will feature the participation of representatives from seven countries.
In contrast to 2023, held in Venezuela, the Caribbean Series will feature the incursion of Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico and, for the first time, Panama. Curacao and Nicaragua attend as guests.
However, on this occasion neither Colombia nor Cuba, which were present in Caracas, appear at the fair.
Format of the 2024 Caribbean Series
Since there will be seven contenders, a slight variation will be implemented. Three games will be played each day, allowing for a rest, and also rotations in the squads.
In total, 25 matches will be played. At the end of the initial phase, the four best placed will advance to the Semifinals. At this stage, the finalists and, eventually, the champion will be defined through single-match matches. Those who fail to advance will star in an additional duel for third place.
