2024 Baseball Hall of Fame Class Announced: Beltré Leads the Way

New York.-The day has arrived when the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) will officially announce the players who will be immortal in the 2024 class.

Until yesterday, 192 ballots had been made public, where the Dominican Adrián Beltré, who is on the (BBWAA) electoral ballot for the first time, leads with 99%.

They are followed by Joe Mauer, with 83%; Todd Helton, 82.5% and Billy Wagner, 78.4%. Gary Sheffield, who is in his final year on the ballot has received 74.7%. If he does not reach 75% of the necessary votes he will have to go to the Veterans Committee votes.

Beltré, a five-time Gold Glove winner who finished his career with 477 home runs and 3,166 hits, is one of several notable players who made 2018 their final MLB season and are on the 2024 ballot. Mauer like Beltré He will be immortalized at his first opportunity.

Beltré was a magnificent defensive player and a feared power hitter. He played with a mix of intensity and joy and did so, despite injuries and pain more times than can be counted.

Don’t try to touch his head! The Dominican hitter also had an unusual career, in that he was more productive at age 30 than at age 20. For that reason, he approached everyone as a Hall of Fame candidate.

Suddenly, in early 2015, he hit his 400th home run. That’s a lot for a third baseman. Three years later, Beltré got his 3,000th hit. Wow! Suddenly, he became a surefire Hall of Famer.
According to Baseball Reference’s “WAR wins above average from fielding” statistic, Beltré is the second-best third baseman in history behind Brooks Robinson, who passed away in September, when it comes to defensive prowess at the hot corner.

He was blessed with a strong arm and the ability to make accurate throws from multiple angles. Nobody could catch and throw better with “pelá hands” than Adrián.
Beltré’s 3,166 career hits are 12 ahead of George Brett, the most of any third baseman in baseball history.
