120 Years of Success: Pau Omnisports Section Honors Members and Reflects on Achievements

This association, which has existed for 120 years, has brought together many disciplines over the years. The increase in practitioners is exponential, but so is the demand for equipment. Christian Loustaudine highlighted the state of suffering at the Croix du Prince stadium. In response, François Bayrou assured that this file is not buried, quite the contrary.

The president also highlighted the success of athletes who have distinguished themselves on the national and international levels. Each section president then had speaking time to present their commitments and the results obtained.

Tributes to Lestorte and Alvarez

This evening was also an opportunity for the Paloise Omnisports Section to thank several of its members for their commitment by awarding them the medal of merit: Véronique Peyroulet (swimming), Laurent Vicenty (fencing), Gaétan Bouttemant (judo-jujitsu), Pierre Bonnet-Badillé (pelota) and Pierre Desclaux (amateur rugby).

A moment of emotion followed, at the mention of two personalities, André Lestorte (died in 2016) and Joachim Alvarez, successive presidents of the pros of the Paloise Section. The club’s medal of honor was presented by the mayor of Pau to the wife of André Lestorte and to Joachim Alvarez. Bernard Pontneau, president of the Pro Section, traveling to New Caledonia, paid tribute to them with a video broadcast during the evening.
