Yulimar Rojas, elected athlete of the year for the seventh time in Venezuela

The Olympic triple jump champion was elected athlete of the year for the seventh time this Thursday by a panel of journalists.

The Olympic triple jump champion, Yulimar Rojas, crowned world champion for the 4th time in 2023, was elected athlete of the year in Venezuela for the 7th time, Thursday by a college of journalists.

Also victorious in the Diamond League in 2023 (the 3rd in a row), the 28-year-old Venezuelan star aims to double triple jump and long jump at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Among the men, baseball player Ronald Acuña, voted MVP of the year in the United States, was crowned.

The Argentinian Fernando Batista, the coach of the national football team, author of a good first part of the qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup, was elected best coach. Venezuela is the only country in the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) to have never qualified for a World Cup.
