The baseball players of the Wuppertal Stingrays organized their annual St. Nicholas tournament in Bayer-Halle. A total of 18 teams competed against each other in two age groups, including an U9 and an U11 group with nine teams each.

The tournament, organized by the “HitHunters” of the Wuppertal Stingrays under the direction of Chrissy Bock, took place in three hall sections at the same time. This meant that even the smallest players were able to gain their first tournament experience.

In the U11 group, the Ratingen Goosenecks secured the winner’s cup, followed by the Cologne Cardinals and the host Wuppertal Stingrays in third place. The Wuppertal Stingrays also came third in the U9 group. The Solingen Alligators took second place, while the Cologne Cardinals took home the winner’s cup and the big challenge cup.

The tournament marked the start of a series of youth baseball tournaments in the Bayer Hall. At the beginning of January, the New Year’s Cup will be held in collaboration with the “Westfalenbande” – much to the delight of department head Olaf Ortmann and his deputy Christian Müller.

Following the games, the annual department Christmas party took place on a small scale, at which numerous awards and personal honors were traditionally presented.
