Violent Marriage Ends in Court: Husband Sentenced to 24 Months

It is the story of a marriage celebrated in October 2019 which ended up descending into violence. Violence which continued even after the spouse left the marital home in Mulsanne, near Le Mans (Sarthe).

Slaps, punches, thrown objects, punctuated the life from May 2019 of the partner in question, beaten by her husband.

“I’m going to cut off your head”

Despite the fact that she decided to leave the marital home and separate from her husband in June 2023, the latter’s violence continued. Her husband follows her, sends her photos of her “stalking”, breaks into her home, makes numerous malicious calls to her and sends her death threats by message.

One of these messages says:

I will cut off your head, put it in a bag and give it to your parents.

On October 19, 2023, exasperated, the woman filed a complaint after her husband, from whom she was separated, went to her workplace with gasoline and matches and sent her a message in which he declared that she would have his death on his conscience.

On October 23, 2023, he even called his wife more than 150 times.

A jealous, possessive and violent man

In court, the defendant, in tears, contested the accusations of violence.

His wife once had her ribs broken. “It’s all basketball,” replies the thin thirty-year-old with black hair, black jacket, dark pants and who until then was unknown to the justice system.

When confronted with the testimony of his wife’s basketball coach which invalidates his statements, he maintains that he was never violent with her and disputes all the testimonies which describe him as a jealous, possessive and violent man. .

A badly experienced separation

Me Aouatef Braber, the defendant’s lawyer, describes him as a completely desperate man who tried to soften him up so that his wife would come back with him.

His lawyer asked the court to impose a sentence on his client that takes into account the fact that his client could not manage his emotions, because he did not understand the reasons for this separation.

24 months in prison

Released for the acts from May 2022 to August 2023, the defendant was found guilty for the remainder of the charge.

He was sentenced to a mixed sentence of 24 months in prison, i.e. 14 months in prison suspended for 2 years.
