Valencia will host, in the first week of June, the 2024 European Club Baseball Cup, which this edition will feature eight top-level European teams: 2 teams from Spain, 2 teams from France, 2 teams from Austria, 1 team from Croatia and 1 team from Belgium.
One of the Spanish teams that will participate in the European Baseball Cup will be the host, the Valencia Astros, who gained direct access after becoming champion of the 2023 Copa del Rey. In this sense, Juan García, president of the Valencia Astros, stated in statements to WBSC Europe that “we feel deeply honored to have been chosen as the host of the 2024 European Baseball Cup. “We will do everything in our power to make this tournament a complete success and worthy of the trust that WBSC Europe has shown in us.”
Jesús Lisarri, president of the RFEBS, has also expressed gratitude and satisfaction for the arrival of the Baseball European Cup 2024 to Valencia: “I want to express our gratitude for having awarded the Valencia Astros the venue for the European Baseball Cup. We are committed to ensuring that the event is carried out with the requested organizational standards. “We have full confidence in the Astros Valencia, the Valencian Federation and local institutions to achieve a successful event.”
It is essential to highlight that the European Baseball Cup, which will be played in Valencia, Spain, is the former European Baseball Confederation Cup, the second most prestigious cup in Europe, after the European Baseball Champions Cup. The recent nomenclature change aligns with the review of the European baseball club competition.
The Tenerife Marlins will also take part in the competition this coming Junewinners of the Spanish Baseball League and also champions of the 2023 edition of the Baseball European Confederation Cup.
The winning country of the 2024 European Baseball Cup will secure a coveted spot in the 2025 European Baseball Champions Cup, provided the participating team meets licensing requirements. Conversely, the bottom two teams in the standings will face relegation to the European Baseball Federation Cups in 2025.
