Bardonecchia: The Best Ski Resort in Europe for Quality/Price Ratio

The ski season has now officially begun, but this year the ski holiday turns out to be more expensive than ever for Italians: however, in the sea of ​​increases that have also affected ski holidays, there is a small glimmer of hope. Bardonecchiain fact, was chosen as the best ski resort in Europe in terms of quality/price ratio, according to the survey by Post Office Travel Money (reported by the Financial Times).

Bardonecchia, the best ski resort

The small village of Bardonecchia, nestled in the mountains of Susa Valley, is one of the most renowned ski resorts in Italy. Today it has won another important recognition: it has in fact managed to prevail against Bulgaria, which has long dominated the ranking of the best European ski resorts, in new report drawn up by Post Office Travel Moneyin collaboration with Crystal Ski Holidays.

Our beautiful one pearl of the Alps, therefore, wins first place for its quality/price ratio: alongside an incredibly rich offer for ski lovers, we must take into consideration the increase in costs compared to last year (there was a +1.4 %, almost the lowest rate in the entire ranking). For the classic ski week, in fact, it is possible spending on average 618 euros per person.

The other Italian locations awarded

L’Italia stands out, in general, as the favorite destination for skiing in the Alps, in terms of savings: in fact, there are several locations awarded by the Post Office Travel Money report. In fourth place, for example, we find (for the first time in the ranking) Livigno. At the splendid ski resort in Lombardy, a few steps from the border with Switzerland, you can spend an average of 713 euros per person for a ski holiday.

In fifth place there is instead Sauze d’Oulx, again in Val di Susa: the average cost of the ski week is around 742 euros per person, with an increase of 2.7%. Piedmont again takes eighth place, with the famous ski resort of Sestriere. Here the average figure of around 811 euros per person is reached, and there is a more significant increase of 8.1% compared to last year. Finally, in ninth position it stands out La Thuilea small town in the Aosta Valley near Courmayeur: with an increase of 2.9%, today the ski week costs on average 824 euros per person.

The general ranking

The classification of the Post Office Travel Report took into consideration 36 ski resorts distributed throughout Europe, interviewing over 2,000 people. In particular, it is based on the expenses to be incurred during a skiing week (of 6 days, since one is used for the trip): there are therefore the costs for the ski pass, the rental of the equipment and the ski course for the less experiencedbut also those for eating and drinking on the ski slopes – lunches, coffee, cans of some fizzy drinks, bottles of beer and glasses of wine included.

Bardonecchia, in Italy (618 euros); Borovets, in Bulgaria (643 euros); Le Corbier, in France (710 euros); Livigno, Italy (713 euros); Sauze d’Oulx, in Italy (742 euros); Bansko, Bulgaria (745 euros); Baqueira Beret, in Spain (808 euros); Sestriere, Italy (811 euros); La Thuile, in Italy (824 euros); Ruka, in Finland (853 euros).
