The president of Orléans Métropole has just proposed to the Gravelines basketball club, playing at the highest national level, to play a championship match at CO’Met. Their sports complex was devoured by flames.
Nothing remains, Tuesday December 26, of the Gravelines sports complex, in Hauts-de-France. A fire ravaged the Sportica, including the 3,000-seat basketball hall, on Christmas Day. The swimming pool and cafeteria also went up in smoke.
Basketball players from Gravelines, residents of the Betclic Elite championship, the highest national level, will therefore no longer be able to play in their room. And this should last several years.
Free provision
The urgency is already there. Gravelines was to host the Paris club at home on Thursday December 28. The meeting was canceled. And after ? The various right-wing mayor of Orléans and president of Orléans Métropole, Serge Grouard, has made, in recent hours, a proposal to the basketball club: if he wishes, Gravelines will be able to play a championship match at CO’Met. Free provision ensures the Metropolis.
