Ugandan Benjamin Kiplagat discovered dead in Kenya

Ugandan athlete Benjamin Kiplagat has been found dead in Kenya, local police said, with media reports claiming he was murdered.

Born in Kenya and aged 34, Kiplagat had represented Uganda on the international stage in events such as the 3,000 meter steeplechase, notably participating in the Olympic Games and the world championships.

His body was found in a car on Saturday evening near the Rift Valley town of Eldoret. “An investigation has been opened and the police are looking for leads», Local police official Stephen Okal told local media. He said Kiplagat’s body had a wound on his neck suggesting he had been stabbed.
