These days many people are raving about the coach of the German U-17 world champions. This is due to its properties. But is he asking too much of the Bundesliga coaches when he demands trust in the young Germans?

When Manfred Schwabl, the captain of 1. FC Nürnberg, came out of the dressing room, he saw that almost always the same player from his soccer team was already on the field and was setting up a circle for him with little cones. Back in the 1993/94 season, the player who set up the cones had to leave again when Schwabl and the men at his hierarchy level gathered in the so-called A circle and warmed up. And even if the player had to leave again and again, he continued to set up the cones training after training – until he was finally allowed to stay for the warm-up game.

“Down-to-earthness and ambition,” says Schwabl as he remembers the season and the player, “that’s what Christian Wück stood for and stands for.”
