Castro, who was selected from Honduras in the 1960s and 1970s, started playing basketball on the Motagua team in Tegucigalpa, with which she won several championships, the first in 1959, according to La Tribuna.
The former Honduran basketball team was also linked to sports in the Ministry of Education and the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).
