#10: Caroline Wozniacki

The Dane doesn’t do it – but could do it again soon! “Wozi”, formerly number 1, ended her career in 2020, but came back impressively last year. And wants to really start her comeback in 2024!

#9: Angelique Kerber

“Angie” was recently on maternity leave, but also wants to attack again. Will it be enough to get to the top again? In 2016, the three-time major winner made it to the top. Or in the top 10? Maybe we’ll know more in a year.

#8: Jelena Jankovic

The former number 1 ended her career in 2017 and a comeback doesn’t seem to be planned at the moment.

#7: Sara Errani

Oh Sarah! First she had to struggle with doping allegations (tortellini!), then with the “yips” that still bother her. But the Italian is fighting and has made it back into the top 100 this year. Current ranking: 105.

#6: Petra Kvitova

The Czech is still the best in the world and is currently ranked 14th. Unfortunately, she had to cancel the upcoming Australian Open due to injury.

#5: Agnieszka Radwanska

“Aga”, the ball artist, has been in tennis retirement since 2018 – so far without any ambitions for a comeback.

#4: Maria Sharapova

“Masha” is also no longer active. After a doping ban in 2016, she came back, but was no longer able to build on her old successes. She now enjoys her family life and remains active as an entrepreneur.

#3: Na Li

Na Li climbed to her high ranking of number 2 in 2014 – shortly afterwards she ended her career. With two Grand Slam titles!

#2: Victoria Azarenka

Another tennis mom who made a successful comeback! “Vika” took a while to regain its old strength, but it has now settled into the top 30. Current rank: 22nd.

#1: Serena Williams

The drama queen of the tour ended her career in 2022 amidst great criticism, even if she never wanted to completely rule out a comeback. The 23-time major winner has now given birth to her second child.
