There are a number of things for which the dance competition StarDance is criticized. Recently, it has been the promotion of sponsors or a prominent place for Chancellor Vohralíková. However, journalist Linda Bartošová chose something else. “Gender stereotypes.” And apparently that was too much for ČT councilor Matocha. He reminded that entertainment programs are the task of CT according to the law. And that he does them well.

“The production and broadcasting of entertainment programs is established by law by Czech Television as one of the tasks of a public service. From the point of view of entertainment TV shows, I consider StarDance to be the absolute best, and the attacks of gender activists (e.g. the attack on the former ČT presenter Linda Bartošová, most recently a few days ago) in my eyes do not question this, but on the contrary confirm it,” noted the former chairman of the ČT Council, Pavel Matocha.
“StarDance shows elegance, hard work behind it and also decency. It also confirms the traditional division of roles. Conservatives are happy. The numbers confirm the success of StarDance: the semi-final decision was watched by 1.76 million people this Saturday (49.2% audience share)! The penultimate night of the twelfth season of StarDance thus became the most watched non-final episode in the last sixteen years,” noted Matocha on his Facebook profile.
What does Matocha mean by those attacks by gender activists? She evidently means this post by presenter Linda Bartošová: “Aspects of gender stereotypes in the StarDance show – has anyone already written it or do I have a subject for a thesis?” she asked.
Linda Bartošová is a well-known Czech journalist who took part in a beauty contest in 2012, but professionally drew attention to herself mainly in front of the cameras of ČT, for which she worked between 2013 and 2022. She hosted, for example, Interview ČT24 or Horizont ČT24. At the end of 2021, however, she went public with a statement that she was affected by burnout and wanted to take a longer leave of absence from CT. In the end, she ended up on public television altogether.
In March 2022, her book of interviews Journalists with women who work in the media was published.
In February 2023, she participated in the launch of the Spotlight project, a project of interviews with guests, which was provided space by the Aktuálně.cz server. But at the end of 2023, Bartošová ends the project.
Among other things, in one of the interviews she gave, Bartošová focused on how men should not treat women. They should forgive inappropriate long stares at women, looking at their breasts or making comments about their backgrounds. And when women have to face this behavior, they should clearly object. According to her, this also applies to porn actresses. They should also set clear boundaries.
StarDance, or When the Stars Dance, has been a very successful program on Czech Television for a long time. For example, the penultimate night of the twelfth season of StardDance became the most watched non-final episode in the last sixteen years. It attracted 1.72 million viewers to TV screens with a share of 43.2 percent.
Viewers will be able to see the final round of the dance competition, which has been broadcast by Czech Television since 2006, on Saturday, December 16 at 8:10 p.m. The decision will be between snowboarder Eva Adamczyková and dance partner Jakub Mazůch, Darija Pavlovičová and Dominik Vodička and Vavřinec Hradilk and Kateřina Bartuněk Hrstková.
