The president of Sporting de Braga, Antonio Salvadorhas declared to Portuguese television Channel 11 that his club “I may have to pay money” to Málaga CF for the Horta Case. However, even with FIFA’s resolution, it considers that there are possibilities of avoiding the pending payment: “We understand that we have reason on our side and I believe that we will not have to pay” (minute 52 in the following video).
The Portuguese club and the Martiricos team maintain a dispute regarding whether a percentage should reach the Costa del Sol in the event that Braga receives a formal offer for Ricardo Horta, from Benfica. “My wish is for him to finish his career at the club. That’s what I would like. I’m not going to say that that’s going to happen, because it will depend on many factors, but at this moment I’m not thinking that it can happen.“, he claims.
“The cards were placed clearly on the table for Rui Costa, he knew what the conditions were to take Ricardo Horta, the conditions that were combined with the player,” he defends. Regarding this possible right of Málaga CF, he explicitly answered: “Benfica did not arrive there and the transfer did not materialize“.
It is important to highlight that the blue and white club signed a clause in the Portuguese international’s contract by which Braga, his destination club, would be obliged to inform of future upward offers for the player.
