The National Sports Agency votes for a historic budget for 2024, “up 5%”

Paris 2024 will shake up sport in France. It’s already the case. Thus, the national sports agency, whose objectives are the financing and organization of sport in France as well as the development of sporting practice for all, has just voted for a record budget: €461 million, an increase of +5 % compared to the previous year.

“This unprecedented budget integrates all the new measures carried out by the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of the 2024 Finance Bill, particularly in terms of inclusion through sport and support for Olympic performance. and Paralympic, indicates the ANS in a press release.

Thus, the Development of Practices (excluding support for sports equipment) sees its budget increase by +€18M to reach an amount of €197.5M and High Performance (excluding support for sports equipment) benefits from an envelope increasing by + 14M€ for an amount of 114M€. The group’s operating costs remain stable compared to 2023 at €12 million.

Director General of the National Sports Agency, Frédéric Sanaur insists: “In five years, the budget has increased from €273 million in 2019 (year of creation of the Agency) to more than €460 million in 2024. This budget is up 5% compared to 2023 with reinforced support for the high performance aspect in the Olympic and Paralympic year and also an increased commitment to support all programs in favor of the development of sports practices and in particular the fund dedicated to the Great National Cause 2024”.

“This budget is up compared to 2023 in particular thanks to additional credits (+€14M) for financing support for athletes and the Gagner en France system,” confirms the ANS in a press release.

Through these credits, the National Sports Agency will be able to consolidate all the actions initiated since the deployment of the “Blue Ambition” strategy in October 2020 such as the “Coaches Plan” and strengthen priority measures in 2024 such as the “Winning in France” including the establishment of the Maison de la Performance. Located a few meters from the Olympic village and deployed for the first time, the Performance House will provide unique services to French athletes during the Olympic Games.

“A few months before the Paris 2024 Games, this increased budget will make it possible to respond to the needs expressed by the federations, that is to say to better identify the support to be provided to the unique projects of “medal-winning” athletes but also to respond to the needs of their coaches through our “Coaches Plan”, launched last summer,” rejoices Claude Onesta, General Manager of High Performance.
