Sisters Rafaela and Fernanda Munar Secure National Badminton Championship Titles

Sisters Rafaela and Fernanda Munar were crowned 2023 national champions in women’s singles and doubles in the last maximum competition organized by the Peruvian Badminton Sports Federation.

It is important to recognize the great progress of the Munar sisters, who train at the Badminton Arena of the Lawn Tennis club of the Exhibition, under the command of their coaches Anggy Sepdianto and Noor Hafifi of Indonesian nationality, outside the FDPB.

“I have felt a liberation to become champion because it has been a complicated year, but I was able to win first place and also be champion in doubles with my sister Fernanda. We played with her when we were little and we already know each other very well. It has been difficult to become champion in singles given the strong competition that exists, but I managed to prevail,” said Rafaela Munar.

On the other hand, Fernanda Munar was doubles champion with Rafaela: “Winning in doubles is a total happiness, even more so with my little sister. Now we are going to play more championships and do the Olympic cycle to reach some games. “We want to continue playing and be taken into account according to our game for the international events that come,”

Rafaela and Fernanda, who turned 18 years old on December 5, now begin the path to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

In 2024 they will compete first in February in Rio de Janeiro and in March in a tournament in Cuba. Then it is a fact that they are in the Ayacucho 2024 Bolivarian Games, Special edition; the ODESUR Santa Fe 2026 Games; the Pan American Games Barranquilla 2027 and then and possibly in the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
