Schalke’s Chaotic Victory: From Shame to Success

First shame, then victory!

Schalke chaotics caused ugly scenes in the stands at the game in Rostock. The basement blast is interrupted for 28 minutes (!) – before Royal Blue ultimately wins 2-0 against ten Hansa professionals. 13th place, a small step away from the abyss to the 3rd league!

► The shame

In the 38th minute the visitors’ block was in disarray. Stewards intervene, police officers march up. Because Schalke chaotics apparently destroyed a security window and entered a neutral zone between the two fan blocks, the game was interrupted. Referee Nicolas Winter (31) sends the teams to the dressing room.

Schalke coach Karel Geraerts (41): “I don’t want to see that in a stadium. That wasn’t good for the teams, not good for football.”

► The curious Rostock red

Due to the interruption, Hansa striker Junior Brumado (24) was only sent off the pitch half an hour late because of elbow checks. Before the game was stopped, Winter only showed yellow for the foul on Blendi Idrizi (25), which was increased to red after video evidence.
