Rudy Gobert has “empathy” for his rival Draymond Green

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert feels “empathy” for his rival Draymond Green following the Golden State Warriors forward’s indefinite suspension.

Gobert, who has often been the target of Green’s verbal abuse over the years, said Thursday night that he was concerned about Green’s well-being.

Gobert told ESPN after an 8-point, 12-rebound performance in the Timberwolves’ win over the Dallas Mavericks (119-101). “You see someone who is unwell and in pain. If you take away the game and everything else, you want someone to be healthy and be able to do what we do every night, compete and be happy.”

Gobert believes the league’s tough measures are necessary because Green is putting the safety of other players at risk. However, Gobert said he could not comment on the appropriateness of Green’s indefinite suspension due to uncertainty over its duration.

“I’m not sure what it really means, so it’s hard to say,” Gobert said. “I mean, you don’t want anyone to get hurt. You have to fix things. That’s all”.
