The XXVII LaLiga FC Futures International Tournament, an under-12 category event that brings together in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) 10 teams from LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion along with four other international clubs, defined its semifinals this Thursday with Rayo Vallecano vs Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid vs Real Betis Balompié.
Real Madrid closed Group A with a new victory, this time 1-0 against Olympique de Marseille, and achieved full victory in this phase. UD Las Palmas achieved the draw they needed (1-1) in their duel against Sevilla FC and also qualified for the semi-finals.
Rayo Vallecano had already secured qualification, while Villarreal CF and Juventus decided which team would accompany them for the next round. The Turin team won 1-0 in a very close match and thus secured second place in Group B.
FC Barcelona also achieved full victories in the first round, within Group C. The culés beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in their last match of this group stage and certified first position. The result also allowed Dortmund to qualify due to their better goal difference compared to CD Tenerife.
Betis and Atlético de Madrid beat Real Sociedad and Liverpool FC, respectively, and consummated their presence in the quarterfinals after each 2-0. Both finished Group D with seven points, but the Green and Whites were ahead thanks to their better goal difference.
In those quarters, Rayo smiled on penalties after having signed a 0-0 against Las Palmas. Then Atleti also eliminated Barça on penalties, having finished 1-1 in regulation time. Later, Real Madrid took advantage of another great performance by Alberto Ruiz and beat Juventus 3-0. And the last place in the semi-finals went to Betis, with their 1-0 win against Borussia Dortmund thanks to a good play by Tiago Polo.
