Orlando Magic and Wagner Brothers Suffer Second Consecutive Loss, while Doncic and Embiid Shine in NBA Action

Orlando Magic and the Wagner brothers lose their second game in a row. Two top stars, however, come out on top.

Cleveland (dpa) – The two basketball world champions Franz and Moritz Wagner suffered their second NBA defeat in a row with the Orlando Magic.

At the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando lost 111:121 despite an outstanding performance from Paolo Banchero. The 21-year-old scored 42 points, but was on his own most of the time.

Because Franz Wagner had a weak evening, he only converted three of his 16 throws from the field, including no successful three-point throw in five attempts. The 22-year-old finished the game with 14 points and nine assists, while his brother Moritz contributed eleven points.

Defeat for Schröder and Toronto

There was also nothing to gain for national team captain Dennis Schröder and the Toronto Raptors. In the home game against the Miami Heat, the Canadians lost 103:112 and suffered their fourth defeat in the last five games. Schröder disappointed with nine points and only four of 18 shots converted.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers with Daniel Theis celebrated their second win in a row. The Californians won their home game against the reigning champions Denver Nuggets 111:102. Theis scored eight points and his eleven rebounds were the second best in the entire game.

Doncic shines in Mavs win

Meanwhile, the two top stars Luka Doncic and Joel Embiid delivered a gala performance. Doncic achieved a so-called triple-double in the Dallas Mavericks’ clear 147:97 home win against the Utah Jazz. The 24-year-old had 40 points, eleven assists and ten rebounds. Maximilian Kleber did not play again for the Texans due to the after-pains of his toe injury.

Embiid cracked the magical 50-point mark for the sixth time in his career in his Philadelphia 76ers’ 131:126 away win against the Washington Wizards. “Sometimes your team needs you to be a playmaker, sometimes they need you to score. And I felt like it was one of those nights where I had to be aggressive and get it going,” Embiid said.
