OM President Pablo Longoria Discusses Winter Transfer Plans and Challenges Ahead

The president of OM, Pablo Longoria, spoke on Thursday of the possibility of seeing his club strengthen during the winter transfer window, in positions where the club “is a little tight” and taking into account the African Cup of Nations (January 13-February 11, 2024). “There are positions where we are a little tight, notably that of left back. There is also the special situation until mid-February with the CAN. We have to deal with it, and it’s the same for Valentin Rongier’s injury,” he explained during a press conference in the form of an assessment of the first part of the season, finished in 6th place, at six podium points.

During the CAN, OM could lose five to eight players, including several important starters, such as Congolese central defender Chancel Mbemba, Moroccan midfielder Amine Harit or Senegalese striker Iliman Ndiaye. Rongier, for its part, should be unavailable until February. Longoria also explained that thinking about upcoming reinforcements also depends on the tactical plan. Coach Gennaro Gattuso is a fan of 4-3-3, but he recently installed a 3-5-2 which helped improve OM’s results.
