The Klosterneuburg Dukes are going into the short Christmas break as number one in the Basketball Super League. The Lower Austrians won on Thursday against the pointless bottom team Fürstenfeld Panthers with 89:64 and remain two points ahead of the Traiskirchen Lions. The Lions won easily against the BBC Nord Dragonz in Eisenstadt with 93:64. After three defeats, champions Swans Gmunden celebrated an 80:77 win at BC Vienna.
Klosterneuburg quickly took the lead 10-2 and was no longer in danger after that. Traiskirchen had to fight for 14 minutes in Eisenstadt before the favorite pulled away and ultimately won just as confidently. Gmunden went into the final minute with a three-point deficit, but Trey Moses and Toni Blazan gave the Swans six points to win. SKN St. Pölten won against the Vienna Timberwolves with 77:49, UBSC Graz defeated the Flyers Wels with 72:69.
