OL Triumphs Over Monaco: A 1-0 Victory

The match: 0-1

Ten days before Christmas, OL are no longer bottom, a position they have held since October 23. This Friday, Les Gones won in Monaco (1-0) and thus achieved a second success after that obtained against Toulouse (3-0, last Sunday).

The temporary play-off team achieved a huge accounting blow, at the end of a complicated match. Anthony Lopes, often singled out this season, was very solid in front of Folarin Balogun (12th, 37th, 67th) and Maghnes Akliouche (41st). He also saw Mohamed Camara shoot at his post (53rd) and Youssouf Fofana appear clumsy (58th, 77th). In the midfield, the Caqueret-Tolisso duo suffered as best they could. The 23-year-old midfielder was good, with 3 interceptions, 15 recovered balls and 9 duels won out of 15.

Interesting in the game in the first period, OL never managed to appear dangerous (0.09 xG at the break, 3 balls hit in the ASM area). He then curled up dreaming of a draw. It was without counting on the punch of the entrants…

In the space of ten minutes, Pierre Sage changed almost everything in his team with five substitutions. Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Tino Kadewere and Jeffinho notably came off the bench in exchange for Corentin Tolisso, Alexandre Lacazette (hamstring injury in the left leg) and the disappointing Ernest Nuamah. The three starters were involved in the only goal of the match (85th). Maitland-Niles found himself at the start of an action relayed by Kadewere. The former Gunner then crossed for the flat foot of Jeffinho who, alone at the penalty spot, deceived Philipp Köhn.
