Novak Djokovic Congratulates Coaching Team on Instagram, Couldn’t Resist Swipe

The record Grand Slam winner then politely congratulated on winning the election on Instagram. But Novak Djokovic couldn’t resist a little swipe.

“Congratulations to Darren and Simone for a great season with Jannik. Goran, I think we need to win four out of four Slams so that maybe (just maybe) you can win Coach of the Year,” the Serbian wrote.

Apparently it’s not enough to “be number one at the end of the year, win three Grand Slams and ATP Finals and write history in this sport,” said Djokovic with a wink.

In addition to Ivanisevic, Vagnozzi and Cahill, Craig Boynton (Hubert Hurkacz’s coach), Juan Carlos Ferrero (Carlos Alcaraz) and Bryan Shelton (Ben Shelton) were also nominated.

Jannik Sinner works with Formula 1

Vagnozzi has worked with Sinner since February 2002, with Cahill joining in June 2022. The Australian had previously trained Andre Agassi and Lleyton Hewitt in his career as a coach. Sinner won four titles this year (Vienna, Beijing, Montpellier and Canada Masters) as well as the Davis Cup with Italy. At the ATP Awards, the 22-year-old himself received the “Fans’ Favorite” award, voted for by tennis fans.

There was further positive news from the Sinner camp at the beginning of the week. The Italian announced that he would work with Formula 1 in the future. On “X” he wrote about the deal with the premier class of motorsport: “I feel honored that I can work with the best in motorsport! I’m looking forward to the future and the great projects we will work on together, forza !”
