“No to this charade…”: why the Toulouse ultras will also boycott the Champions Trophy

“We will not participate in this charade!” » Ultra Toulouse supporters will not go to the Parc des Princes to support their team against PSG in the Champions Trophy finally located at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday January 3.

In a press release published this Tuesday, the Toulouse ultras announced their intention to boycott this gala match, which pits the winner of the Coupe de France against the Ligue 1 champion.

“If the messed up organization of this match in Thailand reshuffled the cards by leaving us with the hope that this trophy could be played in France, on neutral ground, with the presence of supporters from both camps, it was without counting on the LFP, indicate the NVDRS, former Tolosa Indians, in the press release. This match was finally scheduled at the last moment on our opponent’s home ground. How is it possible to claim to respect sporting fairness by choosing the PSG stadium to host the match and this with knowledge of the two teams having to compete for the trophy? Once again, the French authorities do not deprive themselves of any opportunity to point out their incompetence in organizational matters. »

The Toulouse ultras also denounce the price of places, too high for their taste: “The price of places is 25 euros. However, the LFP regulations provide for tickets capped at 10 euros in all visitor sectors. Why would this match deviate from the rule? »

Instead of going to Paris, the Tolosa Indians invite Toulouse supporters to gather at Place Saint-Pierre to experience this match “in a popular and passionate way”, they write.

At the end of last week, the Parisian ultras also announced a boycott, citing in particular “the inability of the Professional Football League to find a host country”.

Main reason singled out: the “unacceptable” prices imposed by the Professional Football League. On the ticket office, the cheapest tickets are displayed at 45 euros minimum. An offer “contrary to our values and the defense of popular football”. In its press release, the CUP cites in particular the price of tickets during the trip this Wednesday in the Champions League against Dortmund at less than 20 euros.

The Ultras Paris Collective thus plans to offer “a lifeless stadium which should remind (the LFP) of previous editions in China, the United States, or elsewhere”. Still in the same press release, the group of supporters attacks “the inability of the Professional Football League to find a host country” despite its desire to “sell it to the highest bidder in contempt of loyal supporters”.
