The new market values of the Bundesliga professionals are here. Who has improved through good performance and who has fallen off? According to the transfer experts, one of the big winners is Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav, two losers come from FC Bayern.

The new market values became public this Thursday afternoon. The makers of transfermarkt.de evaluate every six months (like WELT, belongs to Axel Springer SE) all Bundesliga professionals new. The first half of the season is almost over, the preliminary round of the Champions League has been played and the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup have been decided – it was time again to look at the players’ performances over the past six months.

The big winner comes from the league’s surprise team. Deniz Undav from VfB Stuttgart has not only shot himself into the national team with his performances and goals, but has also increased his market value by 70 percent. The striker catapults himself from ten to 17 million euros. In eleven games, the 27-year-old, who chose the German national team over the Turkish national team, scored eight goals and provided two assists.

Like Undav, three other Bundesliga professionals increased their market value by seven million euros: Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou (new market value 35 million euros), Willian Pacho (24 million) from Eintracht Frankfurt and his teammate Omar Marmoush (15 million). Florian Wirtz recorded absolutely the highest increase. The young star from Bayer Leverkusen shoots from 85 to 100 million, making him the most valuable player in the Bundesliga on paper. His teammate Alejandro Grimaldo, one of the discoveries of the first half of the season, increases his value from 25 to 35 million.

FC Bayern: Sané’s value is increasing

Where there are winners, there are of course also losers. And they mainly play for FC Bayern and BVB. Serge Gnabry repeatedly struggled with minor injuries in the first half of the season and hasn’t really gotten going yet. He only appeared five times in the Bundesliga and made three appearances in the Champions League. The 28-year-old didn’t play the full length of any of the games; he was mostly just substituted on. The result: Gnabry’s market value drops by a whopping ten million from 55 to 45 million euros.

Gnabry’s teammates Leon Goretzka and Matthijs de Ligt were also injured a lot in the first half of the season. Defender de Ligt, who moved from Juventus Turin to Munich for 70 million in 2022, tore the inner ligament of his knee in November. It is uncertain when the 24-year-old will return to the pitch. What is certain is that the Dutchman loses five million in market value and drops to 65 million. Like Goretzka, whose market value drops from 45 to 40 million.

Market values of BVB defensive players are falling

Bayern’s biggest winner is Leroy Sané, who had a very strong first half of the season with nine goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League. The national player’s market value increases from 75 to 80 million.

At BVB, after a mixed first half of the season, there are significantly more losers than winners. Only striker Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (from 18 to 28 million) and goalkeeper Gregor Kobel (35 to 40 million) were able to convince the analysts. The situation is completely different for Borussia’s defenders: Niklas Süle falls from 30 to 22 million, Ramy Bensebaini loses almost half of his market value (20 to 12 million), and Nico Schlotterbeck is only worth 35 instead of 40 million euros on paper .
