46th Departmental Sports Games of Antioquia, Apartadó – Chigorodó 2023. Medellín Delegation won tournaments in adapted athletics, badminton, women’s basketball, handball in both branches, baseball and ultimate. Dabeiba defeated Envigado and took the men’s basketball title. Carepa beat Chigorodó from twelve steps (5-4), in men’s soccer after a three-way tie. Women’s basketball witnessed an exciting contest, where Medellín won the 34-27 victory over El Peñol and took home the coveted title. Likewise, in women’s handball, Medellín demonstrated its supremacy with a clear 27-13 victory against Bello, while, in men’s handball, again against Bello, they prevailed with a final score of 36-26. In baseball, Medellín once again emerged as the winner in a close game, beating the representatives of San Juan de Urabá with a tight 6-5. And the final saw Medellín win with a tight 11-10 over Rionegro.

In a dramatic men’s soccer final, Carepa emerged as champion after a 3-3 draw in regulation time, sealing their victory with an exciting penalty shootout finish, which ended 5-4 in their favor.

In men’s basketball, the Dabeiba team emerged as champions by defeating Envigado with a score of 62-54 in a vibrant match full of skill, temperament and determination.

These emotion-filled events are added to the competitions that concluded in previous days, such as karate-do, where Bello was crowned champion, and badminton, which had Medellín as the winner.

In other tournaments, Medellín stood out in adapted athletics, with 28 gold medals, and leads field tennis in the men’s, women’s and mixed branches. Rionegro, for his part, won eight gold medals in table tennis.

So far, Apartadó dominates archery, judo and weightlifting, accumulating 9, 17 and 48 gold medals, respectively.

With five full days, the general medal table, according to the platform SPORTSANT, places Apartadó at the top with 78 gold, 27 silver and 40 bronze medals, followed by Medellín with 45 gold, 29 silver and 51 bronze. Then Itagüí appears with 19 golds, Turbo with 17 and Bello also with 17.

In addition, an excellent Sunday day is anticipated with the start of the boxing competitions, scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm at the Magnoil Coliseum in Apartadó. The fights promise to add more adrenaline to this sporting spectacle, where strength and bravery come together.
